  9. If you want to try the demo before installing it, make sure you double-
  10. click the "MakeAssign" icon. If you fail to run this, page headers in the
  11. demo will be shown in ugly blocky characters. By default the demo uses the
  12. 'times' and 'courier' fonts in sizes that didn't came with your WorkBench.

  19. AWeb-II is a fast and powerful World Wide Web browser for the Amiga computer.

  25. REQUIREMENTS
  26. ------------

  28. AWeb needs:
  29.  o OS 3.0 or better.
  30.  o At least 2MB of memory as an absolute minimum. 3 MB or more is
  31.    highly recommended.
  32.  o Either AmiTCP/IP, I-Net225 or AS-225 if you want to access the Internet,
  33.    or a TCP stack that is compatible with one of these. Examples of
  34.    compatible products are Miami and TermiteTCP.
  35.  o Appropriate picture datatypes (GIF, JPEG) to show inlined images.
  36.  o The ClassAct gadget kit (included in the full distribution, not in this
  37.    demo).

  41. THIS DEMO VERSION
  42. -----------------

  44. AWeb 3.0LOCALDEMO is a special demo version of AWeb-II 3.0. This version
  45. lacks all network access, so you can only use it on local files.
  46. A networking demo version is available from Aminet: biz/demo/AWeb.lha.

  48. This demo version shows pages exactly like the full version does, but
  49. many additional features are disabled in this demo. Most important
  50. missing features are:
  51. - the demo doesn't use multiple windows. Note that when a page has a
  52.   link to another document in a new window, this demo version will not
  53.   open a new window. The full version will.
  54. - the demo doesn't read or save your hotlist.

  106. AWeb 2.1 Local-only DEMO
  107. ========================

  110. INTRODUCTION
  111. ------------

  113. AWeb is a World Wide Web browser for the Amiga computer.
  114.  
  115. It offers the following features:
  116.  
  117.  o AWeb can use a wide range of TCP-stacks: AmiTCP/IP, I-Net225, AS-225
  118.    or compatible. Without TCP stack running, you can still view local files.
  119.  
  120.  o AWeb uses extensive internal multitasking, which leads to total
  121.    asynchroneous and parallel network access. Images are starting to load
  122.    while the document is still loading. It is possible to follow a link
  123.    while the previous document is still loading. A separate network status
  124.    window shows all pending network and local file accesses. All network
  125.    accesses can be interrupted immediately.

  127.  o The HTML-3.2 standard is fully supported.
  128.    For buggy pages not conforming to the standard, AWeb offers a
  129.    compatibility mode.
  130.  
  131.  o AWeb supports the use of proxies for HTTP, FTP, Gopher and Telnet.
  132.    Because some proxies can't handle forms or other special cases, the use
  133.    of proxies can be temporarily disabled from the menu.

  135.  o The HTTP and Gopher protocols are supported internally. By using
  136.    external programs, FTP, Mailto, Telnet and News can be used too.
  137.    HTTP user authorization is supported.
  138.  
  139.  o AWeb lets you load all images, delay all image loading, or load only
  140.    clickable maps and delay other images. For delayed images, the ALT text
  141.    is taken into account. Transparent GIFs are supported. The 24-bit picture
  142.    datatype (picturedtV43) is supported.

  144.  o To improve network speed, host names and network addresses are cached
  145.    so addresses are looked up only once during a session.
  146.  
  147.  o AWeb can open it's windows on the default public screen, on a named
  148.    public screen or open its own screen.
  149.  
  150.  o AWeb has a hierarchical hotlist, with options to group entries.
  151.    In extension to its own hotlist, AWeb can read other hotlists, like
  152.    those of AMosaic and early IBrowse betas.

  154.  o An advanced settings requester is integrated in the program.
  155.  
  156.  o AWeb has an ARexx interface, and a unique and powerful shell command
  157.    interface.

  160. This DEMO version cannot access the net. You can view local files only.

  206. Before you start AWeb, make sure you double-click the "MakeAssign"
  207. icon first. It makes the necessary assigns that AWeb needs to find
  208. the ClassAct classes.
